Fun fact: I still have the reference photos for this painting; the building is (I’m pretty sure) on 36th St. (I lived on 37th, between Broadway and 31st Ave.) I took a few artistic liberties: The reference photos show garbage cans where the planters are; ground floor windows are not that big; etc. And in all the years I lived in Astoria I never had a tree that looks as enormous as the one in this painting.
